Competing Quartets Make Canadian Showtime Chorus Proud

Friday of contest weekend is not only quartet competition day but it is also the day that the outgoing regional champions assist with the sound and light check at the auditorium! Before that official duty, we had the privilege of rehearsing on stage! I didn't take long to bring our A game on - in fact, we made one of the judges cry! And that's a good thing!!

Four randomly selected voices were asked to act as mic tester for the quartet competition - Linda Rowat, Carol Dubue, Christine Mair and Maryanne Sprague -  you were fantastic! What a thrill!!

And then came the prep for the quartet competition. Where else in the world do you find a quartet competition that has 25 competing quartets with 2 on stage for evaluation!! And 5 of those competing quartets were from Canadian Showtime Chorus! We were proud to represent! KeyRings! took the stage 3 from the tip-top and Outburst were 3 from the end with Uptown Jazzin', Phoenix Rising and High Definition filling in the middle!! Phoenix Rising took 4th place overall, Uptown Jazzin' 6th, High Definition 11th, Outburst 17th and KeyRings! 20th!! Novice Kudos to Liz Gibb (Outburst) and Catherine McConkey (KeyRings!) who had never competed before and to Nicky Wieczorek and Belinda Boekhoven (both KeyRings!) who had been on the competition stage once before for an evaluation round only! Well done ladies!! An amazing showing by all!!

Today is get ready for the chorus contest! As part of journey to the International Stage in Hawaii in November, we perform for evaluation only today!! It is an opportunity to get critiqued by the judges - to provide us guidance on what we need to work on to reach our goal in Hawaii!

The bus will be here any minute to take us to our rehearsal at the Plymouth Congregational Church a block away from the theatre. Some of us will leave the rehearsal early as we are volunteering in the pit, protecting the pit or working backstage!! Stand by folks! I will tell you all about it later!!

What a hobby - what a passion!! I so love this hobby!!
